A lot of times we see comedy movies that don't have a point. Most of the time those movies resort to juvenile jokes and slapstick antics. But I Feel Pretty has a point and makes meaningful jokes through out the film.

This film was super enjoyable because of these jokes and they really make you think about the world we live in. So much about the film was good but these three areas really hit home for me, Theme, Comedy, and Acting. We will see how these three areas made the film as great as it can be.

The theme that I identified with is with the right amount of confidence you can accomplish anything. That seems like a very far fetched idea but people need to know how true it is. This movie helped shed some light on the subject by regularly expressing how Renee wanted to be "beautiful" in the sense of how the world perceives beauty. Yet when a certain something happened and she wakes up and actually sees herself with the confidence she needed to change the world around her and how she saw herself. This theme truly hits home because so many of us think one dimensional when it comes to beauty and especially in a world of social media where out ward looks are the only way to by which to gauge it. Yet when someone thinks to themselves a certain way they are putting out to the universe that they are as good as they think they are.

Thinking about this further this could be a reason why the movie did not get as great of reviews as it should have. I found myself feeling a bit uncomfortable about some of the jokes in the movie because it was constantly making fun of her being not conventionally beautiful but her thinking she was the hottest girl in town. This might just show that maybe I was not ready to hear it but I did and now I am changed for the better. Hell maybe it will give me the confidence I need to do the same! This comedy style was very effective at enforcing the theme and I valued that. There was not many missed opportunities and despite my odd feelings I loved it all. There is nothing wrong with feeling a little uncomfortable from time to time. That fosters change.

Through out the film we could not help but feel close to the actors because they were going through this journey. Renee going through her journey and gaining the self confidence she needed to realize and actualize her dream. Her boyfriend coming to realize that real beauty is infectious and her boss realizing that there's more to life than beauty. The characters all seemed to have such genuine reactions to what was going on because in a lot of ways I feel like they all felt as I did when they were preforming their scenes.

Well these aren't the end all reasons behind their journeys but you can have your own thoughts on this and I would love to hear them. As a final thought I feel like this movie can be seen as a matinee don't go see it immediately but definitely see it and have an open mind.
