Ready Player One - Full Price!
Ready Player One was amazing on a lot of levels. While it was adapted from the book by Earnest Cline, it was molded into its own animal and that was absolutely a good thing. The film found its own footing and carved its own path of nostalgic glory.
I liked that quote because in a lot of ways it showed me how ridiculous the human race is. We can find meaning in so many different things and not everyone will have the same perspective. That is truly a beautiful fact about life. Knowing that everyone has their own view of the world around them is not a bad thing at all, but subjecting everyone to one way of thinking is.
The three things I loved most about Ready Player One, was that it was: nostalgic, relevant, and marvelous. Being Nostalgic was easy to accomplish because all they had to do was throw in as much of the fun things we all did as kids in the the movie as possible. Yet the way they did it wasn't as in your face as I was expecting. We saw many characters on screen and most of them were in the background and completely non intrusive to the story. This kept me engaged in the story as opposed to trying to find all the references in the film, at least for the first viewing, I totally tried to look for the hidden easter eggs for my second viewing.
The film was relevant as well because the gaming industry is becoming more and more of a giant and as of now we are at the verge of the Virtual Reality or Mixed Reality days and sooner or later it will boom or bust. Yet not only that the film shows the corruption of big business has had in the industry or intends to have. I'll not name names, but there are certain companies that do not do gamers any favors. Yet theres a power of positivity in the film because we will come to learn that greed gets you no where and that unity is the only path of success.
The movie was marvelous, now I say that in two fronts, it felt very much like a Marvel Cinematic Universe film. full of action, adventure, and heroes, but more so that a lot of good people did a marvelous work on the film. From Acting to Visual Effects it was pretty well done. Sure somethings were better than others but in the end it come together quite nicely.
My biggest awe in the film was how difficult it had to be to put together so many characters on screen from so many different intellectual properties. It isn't easy folks, some people want to be paid an absurd amount of money to have their work put to picture.
I was very glad to spend time with those I love to see this film, to cheer about what we saw on screen and the references being made, it was a good experience all around, and I would definitely encourage everyone to pay full price to see this movie!
